Had An Accident? Do You Need Rehabilitation?

If you have had an accident that is not your fault and suffered injuries then it is important that you receive medical treatment as soon as possible so that you can start to recover from your injuries.

Obviously your GP and local hospital will provide you with appropriate medical treatment free of charge on the NHS and often that is sufficient for most people.

However, sometimes with more serious injuries, NHS treatment might not be enough and it may be necessary for you to need additional medical treatment such as physiotherapy or counselling.

If you have suffered injuries as a result of an accident claim then often we can persuade the insurers representing the person or company whose fault the accident is, to provide private rehabilitation and medical treatment to help aid your recovery.

This means that the Insurers will instruct a specialist rehabilitation company to identify what your medical treatment needs are and to then arrange for you to receive the appropriate private medical rehabilitation. This is of course, on the basis that the insurers will then pay for that treatment and so that it is completely free of charge to you.

Receiving private medical rehabilitation treatment can be very helpful and an excellent way of supplementing and complimenting the treatment you are receiving on the NHS.

You may wonder why would the insurers want to organise and pay for you to have private rehabilitation treatment at their cost.  The answer is that quite often if you receive private rehabilitation treatment it helps aid your recovery and help you get better more quickly. The quicker you make a recovery from your accident injuries, then the less compensation the insurers will have to pay you.

Therefore insurers quite often find that although they have to incur the costs up front of paying for you to receive private rehabilitation treatment, that cost actually ends up being a lot less than the compensation they might end up having to pay you if you had not received that treatment. This is because you are likely to make a recovery a lot quicker having received private rehabilitation treatment.

Just because the insurers are arranging for a private rehabilitation company to contact you doesn’t mean that the rehabilitation company actually represent and act for the insurers.  Rehabilitation companies are independent and have to act under what is called an independent  Rehabilitation Code that sets out the rules and guidelines on how they should act.

Knowing what is best for you in terms of potential rehabilitation treatment can be a complex issue but it is one that can make a huge difference to your life especially in serious cases.

For most people who have had accidents, their priority is to recover and get well as quickly as possible and it is in these circumstances where private rehabilitation can help.
