Fifty Shades Of Grey

Have you read EL James’s Fifty Shades of Grey yet? We know most of the girls in our office have and the content of the book’s contents continue to generate excitable and stimulating conversations going around the office.

However being lawyers, it’s not the content of 50 Shades of Grey that get us lawyers excited – It’s any court litigation accompanying it that arouses our interests.

And you may have heard that the publishers of 50 Shades of Grey, Random House, have threatened legal action against another rival book that is also called 50 Shades of Grey, demanding that the rival author Shed Simove, stops publishing and selling his own rival book.

Shed Simove’s book though, is in fact a notebook containing 200 totally blank pages but with each one gradually going from light grey to darker grey in colour throughout the book.

In response to the threatened legal action, Shed Simove has reportedly commented “Frankly, I feel violated. Random House have tried to handcuff me from selling my novelty notebook and gag me from talking about it”

‘It’s a clear case of a corporate giant whipping a creative entrepreneur and they’re attempting to tie me up in legal affairs. I’m not the submissive type, so I wish them luck.’

Mr Simove’s book follows the success of his earlier title What Every Man Thinks About Apart From Sex, which was another notebook of, er, blank pages…..
